Hope everyone has a Happy and Healthy 2018!

Wishing everyone a very Happy and Healthy New Year for 2018!!
This is one of my laser cut laces in one twelfth scale that I thought was very fitting for today to bring in the New Year.  It is from an antique Needlework magazine and is a copy of filet lace to Take a Cup for Auld Lang Syne! The lovely tea set and goodies are from my collection from Janet Uyetake of Tiny Towne Hawaii, she makes such beautiful miniatures.

I have been very pleased with my past New Year's resolutions. One from quite a few years ago was to read one fiction novel a week and I often read many more than that but I do enjoy nonfiction too.

Last year my resolution was to make as many of our dinners from scratch as possible since we are Vegan and Gluten free. Many of the recipes we enjoyed lasted almost 4 meals so that was a bonus and great for freezing. They are more time consuming than traditional meals but really worth the effort, My favorite Vegan recipe book is "Oh She Glows" and "Oh She Glows Everyday". I've learned so much and have really enjoyed the creativity these dishes have brought to our meals. There are so many great recipe books for Vegans now!

New 1:48 Retro Christmas Paper Laser Cut Kits or 1:12 scale Christmas tree decor

These quarter scale retro 1:48 or quarter scale Christmas kits will be available on our website and Etsy soon. I hate to cause anyone undue stress with tiny pieces flying everywhere before Christmas but I just couldn't resist designing extremely tiny laser cut paper designs. I was really happy with the reindeer, so small, yet all of their detail shows up. I need to fix the trains before I sell them because they do not hold together well yet. The 2 kits on the left are on lighter papers and have lace designs while the 2 kits on the right are on heavier paper that can be easily coloured with felt pens or watercolours etc.

I am hoping to use textured snow or sparkles on the background design in the lower right and attach some of the pieces to that before putting it on a fire place. The doilies can be used stacked for trees, angels or cones too. The Merry Christmas sign is the same as the red and silver one we used in the 50's and later. The ornaments are very 50's and later too. I hope to have more photos before Christmas of them in a scene. Happy Holiday Season to everyone!!

PS    The very talented miniaturist, Elizabeth from Studio E http://studioeminiatures.blogspot.ca/
has just suggested that these could be used to one twelfth scale Christmas Decorations and she is so right!! I'm so pleased she mentioned it. The reindeer would be about 5" in real life and the trees and nutcracker would be 3 to 4" in height etc. Great idea, thanks Elizabeth.

Quarter Scale 1:48 Halloween and Autumn Laser Cut heavier Paper Accessory Decor items.

I have been having a terrific time designing new 1:48 or Quarter Scale paper laser cut Halloween decor items. So much fun to think of all the different items customers might like to use in an indoor or outdoor Halloween scene. It would be great to see these skeletons etc on an out door Autumn porch or used for a Halloween party. These are available on my website and in my Etsy shop, if you are interested in any of these you can access them through my links down the right side of my blog.

Also recently finished that I will share soon are Nostalgic Christmas decor paper laser cut designs and doilies. I have designed them for the 1:48 Quarter Connection happening in November and Shelly's show in November as well. Hope to see you there.

New Quarter Scale 1:48 Kits for August

I hope you have all had a terrific summer or winter for those downunder!

I am sitting at my computer working on designs for new kits for October, talking to Alex, our son while he is packaging kits, John is sitting across from us working at his computer too, I suddenly realized I hadn't done a blog for August (or July)!!! Since it is the last day of August, I thought I would do a blog today. I am always so optimistic that I will have lots of time to look at everyone's blogs, do lots of blogging and many new designs, it just doesn't work out that way..

Sheee, it seems the older I get the more time flies and I really mean that!!!! However with the beautiful weather we have been having, I have to admit walking with John along the beach and along to waterfront to sit at the Marina or Oak Bay Beach Hotel for tea is a top priority. It is good for my health too and usually takes an hour of walking. I really enjoy cooking our gluten free, vegan meals too and have loved great vegan recipes from cookbooks such as Oh She Glows and Forks before Knives. There is a great documentary on vegetarian eating on Netflix too called Forks before Knives if you have every thought of becoming vegetarian it is very good.

Above are some quarter scale kits I designed for Quarter Connection Roundtables and Shelly's  Miniature Mini Show last month. I hope to have them up on our website soon and Etsy too.

1:48 Scale Floral Friday!

For Floral Friday the top photo shows some of the fimo florals I've been designing for my mini scenes, As you can see they have flat backs which makes them very impressionistic. Since I have a tremor in my hands now sculpting close to the tile where my hand can lean on the the table works really well for me.

I've also shown a photo of our handsome son son Alex who is such a wonderful help to our business for so many areas of packaging and putting together some of the kits that my tremor causes me problems with. The last photo is a peak of part of our studio, John works on the right side, I work in the middle and back and Alex works in the far back corner when he is over too. We have lots of great lighting and storage. I will post other views of the display cases and my collectibles room as well.

The middle photos show how I have used the florals in my various scenes and new Quarter Scale tall fireplace. The  1:48 Scale paper kit with bunnies I called the Bunny Hop and working with the heavier paper is so much fun. These are available on our website, Etsy and eBay.

Thank you so much for looking. I'm sorry I haven't been around again as much as I would like but I'm working on my kits for Quarter Connection roundtables, Shelly's Show in the summer and Ballroom dancing as much as we can.

New 1:48, Quarter Scale Laser Cut and Engraved Kits

Oh my goodness, I can't believe it has been a year since I have posted a blog!! I hope you have all been happy and are feeling blessed.

I am so grateful with how well our business of miniatures has done through the years, especially the last 3 years of selling laser cut and engraved 1:48 scale kits. It has been very rewarding to receive such a positive response. Recently I've been trying a few designs on heavier paper and have really enjoyed the results. You can see and example above of 1:48 plates, platters, boxes and book covers. With a bit of embossing they really start to look like plates, they can be painted too. Above you can see a grouping of new kits I've designed recently for our Yahoo Quarter Connection Roundtables and Mega Roundtables in June. After that time I will have them on our website, Etsy and eBay. I've also been having fun making fimo flowers, I will share those with you soon as well.

Take care everyone and than you so much for those of you who might meander over to my blog and have a look. Mini Hugs, Jean
